Reuben recently repaired/serviced my instrument, along with some of my students. Excellent service, from start to finish. The workmanship was outstanding, it is clear that Reuben takes great pride in the quality of his work. The turnaround time was impressively fast without compromising attention to detail, and communication was clear, professional and reassuring. The pricing was very fair for the level of service provided. I highly recommend Reuben to anyone looking for reliable, high quality instrument servicing and repairs.

Violins, violas, and celli built here on the Sunshine Coast and hand tailored to each individual player. A friend for life.

As a third-generation violin maker, it may come as a surprise that my path into the craft was not inevitable. Growing up surrounded by the work of my father, grandfather, and uncle, I was always close to violin making, but never felt naturally drawn to pursue it myself.

That changed in 2019, when I began experimenting in my father’s workshop and gradually developed a deeper interest in the craft. What started as curiosity became budding passion over the following year, and I soon found myself getting absorbed in the work.

From 2020 to 2026, I worked alongside my father, Ilja Grawert, in our North Queensland workshop, refining my skills across restoration, setup, and making. At the start of 2026, I moved to the Sunshine Coast to open another workshop, where I continue to focus on setup, repair, new making and the ongoing pursuit of tonal refinement in the instruments I work on.
